Signed and Sealed
Signet rings are a sign of the times, and they keep going strong and evolving, offering the wearer an individualized stamp of style. They can be worn on various fingers, and contemporary designers are taking creative license with messages, mottos and/or gemstones that resonate with today’s woman. These can be as simple as diamond pavé for a singular effect. They can also give a nod back to antiquity with lyrical, bold, sentimental and meaningful messages and motifs worn to express beliefs, dreams, hopes and future goals. “Signus” means sign in Latin, and the original rings that can date back 4000 years were used as a form of signature: The image of the ring in relief, when impressed on wax, sealed deals, identified ownership and authenticated documents. They originally represented classical and mythological subjects, then symbols of power and affiliation, and eventually depicted occupations and hobbies. Today, they are a true mark of distinction.
